If you are looking at purchasing wall art as an investment you may be looking at the works as being affordable because they will go up in value, however if you are looking at pieces which will appreciate significantly, they are probably already quite pricy. This is where you should again get in on the ground floor and look for quality art by more affordable emerging artists, however, since you are buying it as an investment, you will want to be sure it will increase in value. Therefore, look for works which have been purchased by important collectors, bought by art institutions and those displayed at important exhibitions and galleries.
But if you want art for your walls which is instantly recognisable, many well-known artists who have become more established are now selling their etchings, lithographs and photographs for less well-know prices.
